About the pycart library

The pycart library was originally developed for my Master's thesis submission at the University of Exeter. The driving force behind this library is that there are remarkably few examples of Cartogram generation in Python, and even fewer easy-to-use libraries that implement such methods.

Given Python's inherent modularity and the wealth of existing Geospatial Analysis and visualisation libraries, I thought it strange that there wasn't a library that implemented Cartogram generation. This formed the basis of my thesis: to develop an easy-to-use library that can generate Cartograms using a variety of techniques, as well as being compatible with common Geospatial libraries (e.g. GeoPandas).
